Whilst Jamaica’s roots stars win all the accolades, it must be remembered that Britain too has its fair share of Rasta soldiers. It was here that reggae cultural renaissance really began, with singer/songwriters such as Wayne McArthur unfraid to buck existing trends during the late Eighties, and attempting to forge their own brand of conscious reggae music.
Here within lies the best from Wayne McArthur we’ve heard so far. His ability to construct uplifting lyrical themes seems enhanced - and especially on songs like POOR MAN’S PRAYER, ROAD OF LIFE and the strengthening title track - whilst the quaility of his rhythms has risen to meet the seriousness of his task in spreading a true roots message.
